iPhone repairs in Newcastle: screens, batteries and charging ports explained
Most iPhone problems fall into a handful of familiar faults. Here is what each one usually looks like, what the repair involves, and what to ask before you book.
Cracked or unresponsive screen
Cracks are the obvious sign, but also look out for lines across the display, flickering, patches that do not respond to touch, “ghost touches” that open apps on their own, or a screen that stays black while the phone still rings.
A screen replacement swaps the whole display assembly. You can usually choose between an original part and a good-quality compatible part. We explain the difference in our guide Original or compatible screen: which should you choose?
Battery that drains quickly
If your iPhone dies before the end of the day, shuts down at 20 to 30 per cent, or feels slower than it used to, the battery is the usual suspect. A replacement restores normal battery life. See signs your iPhone battery needs replacing.
Charging port problems
A phone that only charges at an angle, or not at all, often has pocket lint packed into the port. We check and clean the port first. If it is damaged, we replace it.
Back glass, cameras, speakers and more
- Cracked back glass, which can let dust and moisture in.
- Blurry, shaking or black cameras.
- Quiet or muffled speakers, and callers who cannot hear you.
- Buttons that stick or do not respond.
Water damage
Liquid damage needs looking at quickly, because corrosion keeps working after the phone has dried. Read what to do if your phone gets wet.
